GETTING STARTED AS VISUAL STORYTELLERS
Wandering around the historic back streets of Hobart was when Chris discovered a genuine love of photography. His major project for uni was photographing house facades which developed into a true passion for real estate photography.
Chris moved to Melbourne, where he met Kara. Both worked for a fast-paced production agency, which allowed them to travel and set up a new European outpost. Chris, as Head of Production, and Kara, as Head of Post Production, were able to hone their skills and position themselves for what lay ahead.
Landing back in Australia, Kara and Chris work for other production companies across Melbourne. Here Chris’s work was mainly photographing residential and commercial properties. Whilst he loved photography, he soon realised that profit before people were ripe in the industry.
CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO
Fed up with the usual photography business model, they moved back to Kara’s hometown of Geelong and decided to challenge industry stalwarts when opening their studio. Driven by youthful enthusiasm, bold creativity, and forging personal connections with locals, CK Real Estate Photography opened to serve Geelong and the surrounding region in 2015.
THE TWO YEARS WE’D ALL RATHER FORGET
Delighted customers and success quickly followed, but like everyone, 2020 brought massive change to their lives. As a result, they reevaluated the business and how they could add more value to our community. So, Chris and Kara decided to expand their service to include offering media solutions to the construction and commercial industries. And they gave themselves a new identity and branding, Abode Productions.

They love Geelong. It’s their home. And they are passionate advocates for the region. Their work inspires them to create originative, powerful content for local businesses.
